A 7.1 quake has damaged buildings in the US state, ruptured gas lines and sparked numerous fires near the quake's epicentre near Ridgecrest, near Death Valley National Park.
It's estimated the quake has caused one billion dollars worth of damage.
It came just 34 hours after a 6.4 tremor.
Seismologist, Dr Lucy Jones, told CNN the aftershocks could continue for days.
She says the fault line is a very energetic sequence, and there's no reason why there wouldn't be more large earthquakes.
