Year 9 student James Hunt was stood down for a day last week, for breaking the school's rule that hair must not touch the collar.
The 13-year-old wore his hair long in memory of his grandfather, who was once expelled from school for his long hair.
Lawyer Jol Bates has been hired to represent the teenager.
He previously successfully defended a student from another college, who was also suspended over his hair.
