Good news keeps coming for the New Zealand women's cricketers

Good news keeps coming for the New Zealand women's cricketers

Fresh off the release of a new, more lucrative Master Agreement, women's Twenty20 has been included in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

The sport's solitary previous appearance came via the men's appearance in 1998 at Kuala Lumpur.

The New Zealand cricketing year might be about to notch up another extraordinary feat.

The Black Caps might have come second in the one-day international World Cup after losing the final to England by zero runs, but they could claim the number one test ranking for the first time over the next fortnight.

They need to beat Sri Lanka 2-nil in the two-test series starting tonight in Galle.

Mike Hesson's been shortlisted to coach the Indian team.

The former Black Caps mentor is one of six who will interview for the job.

The All Blacks have no time for the allegations of skulduggery made by Fox Sports commentator Rod Kafer .

The former Wallabies international believes All Blacks lock Scott Barrett's illegal shot on Michael Hooper was part of a plan to deliberately target the Australian captain.

Barrett's second row partner Sam Whitelock says it's untrue.

The Warriors will give Kodi Nikorima until tomorrow to prove his fitness.

He's been named on an extended bench for Sunday's NRL match against the Roosters in Sydney, but needs to go through training and tests to show he's over an ankle injury.

Preparation has warded off medical misadventure for New Zealand's rowers at the junior world championships in Japan.

The country sent 14 athletes to the regatta, which doubled as the Tokyo Olympic test event.

Three athletes from other nations suffered heatstroke in blistering summer conditions and a number were unsteady on their feet, which has raised safety concerns for next year.

Manchester City will be free to continue to scouring football's transfer market.

The English Premier League champions have escaped a transfer ban, despite being sanctioned for breaching FIFA's international transfer and registration of player under 18.

They were instead fined 588 thousand New Zealand dollars.

    From our broken record desk...

Five Russian weightlifters, all of them world or European championship medalists, face doping charges which might herald a new wave of cases across a range of sports.

The International Weightlifting Federation says evidence against the five comes from new investigations by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

British boxer Tyson Fury has confirmed his next opponent.

Fury will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin on September 14.
