The High Court has thrown out 44-year-old Philip Neville Arps' appeal of his 21 month imprisonment.
He's guilty of two charges of distributing the mosque shooting live stream and modifying the video to have cross-hairs and a "kill count" added.
Canterbury University Sociology professor, Greg Newbold, says the High Court could've chosen to extend Arps' imprisonment.
He believes the chance of him getting a longer sentence was greater than a reduction.
