21 year old Liam Strickland, made his first appearance at the High Court in Christchurch this morning.
He was arrested on August 16 after a massive city-wide 11-day manhunt.
Police allege a van driven by Strickland hit and killed pedestrian Dean Amies after a pursuit in the coastal suburb of New Brighton in August.
Defence counsel Rupert Glover told the court that disclosure was ongoing - and no pleas would yet be entered.
He faces charges including murder, dangerous and reckless driving, and failing to stop for police officers.
A three-week trial has been set aside for September 7, 2020, should Strickland plead not guilty.
Strickland was remanded in custody.
