An Auckland father-of-five's death is the latest to be linked to synthetic cannabis use
10 September 2019
Forty seven-year-old Joseph Rakete was found dead on a Queen Street footpath in August 2017 - after using synthetics with the mother of his children.
After passers-by saw his partner having a seizure and foaming at the mouth - they called emergency services.
Rakete was unable to be revived and a Coroner now says his death was a result of a mix of synthetics, meth, alcohol and cannabis.
He's one of up to 75 people believed to have died from synthetics since June 2017.
