Seven kea have been spotted at the Remarkables ski field over the past year, after a two-year predator control and habitat effort.
Kea are rarely seen within the Queenstown Lakes District.
Celebrating Conservation week - Remarkables' staff have named one male kea "Tahae" which means "thief" - a nod to the bird's tendencies to steal people's belongings.
NZSki CEO, Paul Anderson, says they're passionate about enhancing habitat and increasing the local kea population.
