    The quality of the refereeing at rugby World Cup is being questioned by one of their own


    The tournament is already the dirtiest, with more red and yellow cards handed out than ever before.

    Former international ref Jonathan Kaplan says that calibre of officiating has slipped.

    Former New Zealand Rugby High Performance Manager Andrew Hore has been confirmed as the new CEO of the Blues.

    Hore has been CEO of the Waratahs since 2016 having previously held the same role at Welsh club Ospreys.

    Athletics New Zealand high performance director Scott Goodman's backing the country's medal chances at next year's Olympics.

    New Zealand earned one medal - Tom Walsh's shot put bronze - at the world championships in Doha.

    That was mixed with a host of personal bests and national records.

    Goodman says a handful of other contenders need to be factored in.



    Canberra Raiders lock Joseph Tapine is in danger of missing the Kiwis test against Australia later this month after being cited for a dangerous tackle in the NRL Grand Final.

    There are six debutants in Mal Meninga's 19 strong Kangaroos squad for the tests against the Kiwis and Tonga.

    Andy Murray's tennis comeback gathers steam this evening when he plays Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero in the first round of the Shanghai Masters.

    The former world number one had hip resurfacing surgery in January, and has taken tentative steps towards returning to the big time.

    Murray has had some encouraging performances in Asia and thinks he can get back to the top.
