A rock star men's field will be on the start line for Sunday's Ironman World Champs in Kona-Hawaii

Germany's Jan Frodeno won gold at the 2008 Beijing olympics before stepping up distances to win both 70.3 and Ironman world titles- he is back after a late injury forced him to withdraw ahead of last year's Kona race.

Wanaka's Braden Currie finished fifth last year, and he expects Frodeno will be trying to dictate terms.

Current Ironman New Zealand champion Mike Phillips is the other Kiwi on the start line.
