That's the change former Black Caps batting coach Craig McMillan wants the International Cricket Council to implement.
It follows a decision overnight to ensure repeat Super Overs replace a boundary count back as the means to differentiate tied teams in World Cup play-offs.
The ICC's made the call after New Zealand lost July's World Cup final to England by 26 boundaries to 17.
McMillan's request comes in reference to the same match, where a Ben Stokes two became six with an overthrow deflection off his bat in the final regulation over.
