Electric scooter accidents in the Auckland region have cost the health system upwards of a million dollars - in less than a year.
Auckland University study has revealed 770 injuries were reported between October 2018 and April this year.
Of those, 246 presented to Auckland City Hospital's emergency department, with three quarters being admitted.
Study co-author Mark Bekhit says they estimate the healthcare costs per e-scooter on Auckland's streets is likely to more than ten times higher than the licensing fee.
