Fisheries officers have shut down a long-running illegal crayfish ring on the North Island's east coast, allegedly run by an extended family

The Ministry for Primary Industries says 25 officers and police staff have conducted five search warrants in Tologa Bay, Rotorua and Kawerau.
One hundred and sixty nine mostly undersized crayfish and a quantity of kina were seized, along with tow vehicles, diving gear and a boat.
Seven people could potentially face prosecution.
