Judge Carolyn Henwood has reminded the Commissioners there's a 'real person' behind every story

The judge headed a confidential counselling service - and was the first witness at the long-awaited Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse.
Over two weeks, almost 30 witnesses will talk on the abuse and neglect in state or faith-based institutions over a 50 year period.
Judge Henwood she says photos of the survivors as children melted her heart.
She says these people are more than statistics - they're little children who have suffered hurt and been forced to make a life for themselves.
She says a lot of people don't understand the hardship these children experienced.
