Doctor Venod Skantha is on trial at the High Court in Dunedin - accused of killing 16-year-old Amber-Rose Rush.
Rush was found dead at her Dunedin home in February last year.
Her mother - Lisa Ann Mills - died four months later in a suspected suicide.
Today her statements to police - one made the day she found her daughter's body - were read out in court.
Mills said she'd met Skantha several times before.
She says as a mother she thought it was weird a 30-year-old was hanging out with 16-year-olds - and had told Amber to be careful.
