A wastewater spill has closed a popular swimming spot on Lake Taupo

A wastewater spill has closed a popular swimming spot on Lake Taupo

The Taupo District Council's issued a warning for Acacia Bay residents to stay out of the water.

A council spokesperson says there's been a small spill - caused by a build-up of rags and wet-wipes, flushed down local toilets.

They're asking residents and visitors alike to please be mindful of what they flush.

The council is testing the water - and says results will be available tomorrow.
