Armed police are maintaining cordons at a street in Christchurch after a suspected drive-by shooting

Photos of a car at a property on the street show a large hole smashed in its rear window.

A police spokeswoman says they received reports of shots being fired at a parked vehicle in Sydenham around midnight, and were making further enquiries.

Reporter Amber Allott is at Forbes St and says she can see evidence markers on the road and detectives taking photos of the scene.

No one was injured.
