Northland is chuffed by the latest funding boost for rail

The Government's announced the provincial growth fund's putting 109-million dollars into reopening an old railway line, upgrading tunnels and building a container terminal.
KiwiRail Group chief executive Greg Miller says this will move the region's freight back on the tracks .... because the roads are suffering from heavy truck usage.
He says it is ripping up the asphalt, and is why the maintenance bill for New Zealand roads is astronomical
