Authorities say the chances of a community outbreak remain low - despite New Zealand having its first confirmed case of coronavirus

Authorities say the chances of a community outbreak remain low - despite New Zealand having its first confirmed case of coronavirus

A permanent resident in their 60s is being treated fir the virus at Auckland City Hospital, after returning from Iran on Wednesday.

They twice tested negative, before a third test was confirmed positive yesterday afternoon.

Jacinda Ardern says the hospital was contacted by Healthline before the patient arrived

She says the person was then received by medical professionals already rolling out the protocols we have for an infectious disease such as this.

The Government announced yesterday it's expanding travel restrictions to immediately include travellers from Iran.
