Changes could be on the way for a notorious intersection that's bamboozled Wellington drivers for years

The Cuba and Abel Smith Street intersection is controlled by four stop signs - with drivers and pedestrians often confused as to who has right of way.

Support from a new government fund could see safety improvements for those crossing the street.

Wellington City Council members have agreed to apply for NZTA's Innovating Streets Fund, which would cover 90 percent of the costs of new crossings.
