The US economy has lost a staggering 20.5 million jobs in April, the steepest plunge in payrolls since the Great Depression
Unemployment has reached 14.7 percent, shattering the post- World War Two record of 10.8 percent.
CNN national security correspondent Vivian Salama says a hasty reopening of the country could trigger another severe wave of Covid-19.
She says there's an economic danger in that because a stop-start scenario would very detrimental.
