Blues first-five Beauden Barrett will head to Japan next year, bypassing the Super Rugby season, after having the flexibility written into his contract pre-pandemic.
Blues CEO Andrew Hore can't rule out more sabbaticals to other players in the future, but says they have to fit certain criteria.
