Sonny Bill Williams was only back in Australia for a few minutes before a Covid-19 breach scare

Sonny Bill Williams was only back in Australia for a few minutes before a Covid-19 breach scare

The dual-code star, who's returned to Sydney to play for the Roosters in the NRL, has been cleared of the infraction, after an interaction with an eager fan at Sydney Airport.

Williams was asked for a selfie, and obliged, before it was realised the fan had come within the 1.5 metre social distancing rule recommended by bio-security guidelines.

However the NRL didn't feel the incident posed an issue, as the fan was wearing a mask at the time and separated from the fan by a fence.

The NRL's also stressed that Williams' mandatory returned traveller 14-day quarantine will safeguard him of any potential risks.
