The world number one has been defaulted in his fourth round match against Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta.
He had just been broken to trail 6-5 in the first set and, as he walked to the sideline for the changeover, smacked a ball behind him which hit a female line judge in the face.
Carreno Busta is through to the quarter finals as a result, but is stunned by what transpired.
Commentator Renee Stubbs is adamant the right decision was made.
