The Covid 19 lockdowns have had pros and cons for the country's mechanics

New figures from MTA show a month after the Warrant of Fitness extension period ended, about 590-thousand vehicles still need to get a warrant.

But the lockdowns and border closure have also prompted people to get more work done on their cars.

Paul Hinton -- a workshop foreman at St Lukes Tyre and Mechanical Workshop -- says people are willing to get more than the bare minimum done.

He says normally people would put off any extra work until their next WOF.
