Tai Dixon was driving to Christchurch Hospital in June last year - when Darryl Price's car collided with hers at an intersection near West Melton.
Today, Price was sentenced to five years and two months in prison for her manslaughter.
Dixon's father, Bernie Hartley, says the horror and loss will stay with his family for the rest of their lives.
Hartley says he has lost sleep, and suffered from depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress.
He says their family, which includes Dixon's two young daughters, have had no closure.
