Claims New Zealand Police are woefully under-resourced... and under-staffed

A 24-year-old man is due in the Whangarei District Court today after police were shot at during a pursuit in the city yesterday.
Just last month, a policewoman was shot at in Northland while patrolling alone, but no arrests have been made.
Former police officer and former National MP for Northland, Matt King, says Northland police don't have enough vehicles.
He says in the mid-north there were seven staff with one squad car between them - so they'd have to borrow cars off other stations just to do their job.
