A finding officers didn't use excessive force with a Bay of Plenty woman whose partner was concerned she'd tried to commit suicide

When an officer arrived at the woman's Whakamarama home, she had just got out of the shower, and tried to run, wrapped in a towel.

She then bit an officer's arm when he tried to stop her, and he hit her head to make her release her bite.

The woman says she's traumatised and complained to the Authority, about excessive use of force.

Independent Police Conduct Authority Chair, Judge Colin Doherty, says the officers acted in a way they thought necessary to ensure her welfare.
