    A warning for motorists to take care - with extra heavy traffic piling up between Auckland and Whangarei


    For a week from Friday, about 800 more trucks will be travelling State Highway 1.

    A ship carrying about one-thousand-200 containers has been forced to divert to Northport, its biggest visitor ever.

    Delays have worsened at Auckland's port over the past few weeks - as Christmas cargo's flooded in.

    Transport agency officers, Worksafe and Police will be out monitoring truck movements to keep the roads safe.
