Eighteen people have been prosecuted for drink driving in Hawke's Bay last night.
Nearly 15-hundred cars were stopped at a large checkpoint at the roundabout of Pakowhai Road and Te Ara Kahikatea at Hastings between 6 and 9.
Eastern District Road Policing Manager Inspector Matt Broderick says getting breath-tested isn't the worst thing that could happen.
He says they're there to prevent death and injury.
Broderick says there'll be a focus on drink-driving this summer to keep everyone on the roads safe.
