Christmas is looking to be cool and showery for the south, while those in the north-eastern North Island are set to have more sun and heat

The remnants of Cyclone Yasa, while fairly close to New Zealand this week, will have no impact on our weather.
MetService's Tom Adams says overall most regions across the country will be treated to a good Christmas Day.
But he says the areas in the south east part of the country will likely still get a few showers.
