The Clutha District Council has warned there could be widespread flooding in the region in coming days

The Clutha District Council has warned there could be widespread flooding in the region in coming days

A low pressure system from the west is bringing with it heavy rain for areas throughout Otago and the lower South Island.

A Clutha District Council spokesperson says roading contractors are out assessing the situation.

They are keeping a close eye on the Pomahaka River at Leithen Glen, as it rises towards a second flood alert level.
