Thunderstorms rocked Northland, the Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato and Taupo yesterday.
And this morning, MetService forecaster Tuporo Masters says an unstable northerly flow will affect the North Island.
He says a trough has crawled over the middle of the North Island, bringing showers from Northland all the way down to Central Plateau.
More thunderstorms could pop up across the country this afternoon - people are advised to check severe weather warnings.
