Central Otago was lashed by around 120-millimetres of ran on Saturday, with surface flooding wrecking havoc throughout the countryside.
Owner of Earnscleugh's Panmure Orchards Jeremy Hiscock says up to 100-percent of his some cherry varieties may now be ruined.
He says the event was incredibly unusual, with water flowing from both the hills and the catchment of the Fraser River.
Jeremy Hiscock says the last time rain was this severe was in 1982 when he was four-years-old.
