A notice of motion has been filed to establish a Maori Ward in Wellington

A notice of motion has been filed to establish a Maori Ward in Wellington

City councillor Jill Day has called for the ward to be established at the next local body elections.

It comes after the Government has announced it will abolish a law allowing local referendums to veto council decisions to establish Maori wards.

Councillor Day says a Maori ward is another step in addressing past wrongs.
