Stats NZ figures show annual inflation for beneficiaries was almost three times higher than for all households in the year to December 2020.
Overall annual inflation increased by 0.7 percent - but for beneficiaries the rise was 1.9 percent.
Consumers prices manager, Katrina Dewbery, says beneficiaries spend on average almost a third of their income on rent, meaning the impact of rising rents for them is bigger, than for other groups.
