A call for those driving around schools to be careful as the school year starts up

According to new data from State insurance 42 percent of car collisions happen around school pickup times.
The data was collected from State Insurance claims from between 2016 and 2020.
IAG New Zealand is the parent company of State Insurance.
Spokesperson Dean McGregor says drivers can reduce risk by following simple rules.
He says people shouldn't be distracted while driving.
