Papatoetoe High School will be closed today and tomorrow after a Year Nine student was identified as a community case of covid-19.
The infected student was only at school on Wednesday last week.
Five teachers and 28 students are considered close contacts -- while everyone else is considered a casual contact.
Principal Vaughan Couillault says last Wednesday was a normal school day.
He says there were no big school events on, it was students in classrooms from a very regular point of view.
