The fear of missing out is having a domino effect on the New Zealand housing market

REINZ figures show a big spike in the national median house price for January - and areas that have experienced record sales.
The West Coast experienced a 54.1 percent surge, and Southland saw an impressive 18.4 percent rise.
But Real Estate Institute chief executive Bindi Norwell says it's a catch-22.
She says increased pressure on properties putting pressure on prices - with people paying over the top because of it.
