Masterton's mayor is looking on the bright side of a popular event being cancelled today

Masterton's mayor is looking on the bright side of a popular event being cancelled today

Wings Over Wairarapa the aviation spectacle that attracts crowds from across the country was canned due to the recent alert level change.

However the event began on Friday so was able to run for most of the weekend.

Masterton mayor Lyn Patterson says while it is disappointing they were lucky to get two days with huge crowds.

Patterson says she feels for the organisers and volunteers who had put in so much work.
