Former police officer Derek Chauvin is accused of killing the 46-year-old last year.
Floyd's death led to widespread Black Lives Matter protests across the US.
Chauvin was fired after a video showed his knee had been on Floyd's neck for nine minutes.
Associated Press reporter Amy Forliti says it was a tough task picking a jury, due to the high profile of the case.
She says attorneys and the judge had to question the jurors individually, to see if they had any pre-conceived opinions.
