It's hoped a new shared pathway in Auckland will get walkers off a busy airport road

The path's opening today for pedestrians and cyclists just off Highway 20B on Campana Road in Wiri.
Previously, people had to walk alongside the highway.
The new pathway is also part of the three-thousand kilometre Te Araroa walking trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
Executive Director of the trail, Mark Weatherall says it's now a much more enjoyable part of the walk - close to the estuary, with a better view.
