    A boost to take more freight off our roads


    Government has allocated 1.3 billion dollars in today's budget for KiwiRail - spending will involve upgrades on fleet, maintenance hubs and lines.

    KiwiRail Chief Executive Greg Miller says a majority of his customers are demanding more rail services.

    Hey says government is moving with a global trend of a freight shift from road to rail.
