Wellington commuters are being encouraged to try another form of transport this weekend

All six lanes of Jervois Quay were closed last night, so a stormwater pipe can be replaced.
Wellington Water workers will be trying to fit six weeks of work into four days.
Disruptions are expected until it reopens on Tuesday morning.
But Wellington Water spokesperson Tonia Haskell says ditching the car all together for the weekend may be a good option.
She says people can use public transport, a bike or walk but if you do need to go through then use State Highway One but ideally don't bring a car into the CBD.
