That was the final peak in the rowing career of Olympic great Mahé Drysdale at the Rio Olympics

That was the final peak in the rowing career of Olympic great Mahé Drysdale at the Rio Olympics

The 42-year-old has retired today after competing at four Games and was a double single sculls champion, as well as securing the bronze while recovering from illness in 2008.

Drysdale was also a five-time world champion, securing his first gold in 2005.

Here he was on the concourse at Gifu, Japan in the aftermath.
