    Crash investigators have identified three critical areas after a Californian tourist died in a Queenstown commercial tandem skydive


    Parachutists are being urged to understand the risks of accidental water landings after the tragedy in Lake Wakatipu in 2018.

    Transport Accident Investigation Commission Chief Investigator Harald Hendel says gaps have been found in parachute regulations near water, life-jacket rules and incident reporting.

    He says TAIC asks that parachute operators take the key lessons from this investigation.
