Oceane  Maihi's using prior adversities as motivation for the remainder of her netball career

Oceane Maihi's using prior adversities as motivation for the remainder of her netball career

The Stars defender, who hails from the small Northland town of Rawene, is in her first full ANZ Premiership netball season.

She's also had to overcome five significant surgeries to her hips, stomach and knee on the road to a professional contract.

Maihi says because she's come from a small town she's had to work harder for opportunities.

The Stars host the Pulse in Auckland this evening, and centre pass is at quarter past six.
