Plans have been unveiled for a new United Rugby Championship next season, featuring northern and southern hemisphere teams

The 16-team league, forged from an agreement between Europe's Pro 14 competition and South Africa Rugby, will start in September.

South Africa's four former Super Rugby sides - the Sharks, Stormers, Lions and Bulls - have been added to the incumbents from Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Italy.

Those teams will be eligible to play in the Heineken Champions Cup from the 2022-23 season.
