A Health Quality and Safety Commission report launched last night shows disproportionate diabetes rates... and shorter life expectancies.
Pasifika women suffer more pregnancy complications - and worse outcomes, and children are more likely to develop asthma, dental problems and infections.
Board member Doctor Collin Tukuitonga says we need more Pasifika health workers.
He says evidence shows health outcomes are better if people are treated by their own.
Tukuitonga says communities need to be involved in the design of health services - to ensure fewer cultural barriers.
