11 July 2021
The officer was shot in the shoulder during a routine traffic stop on Friday.
A 23-year-old man and 27 year old face charges and will appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
Paula Southgate says it was an unfortunate situation.
She says Police do a great job of maintaining law and order without guns, however it's ultimately up to Police to decide.
The officer remains in a stable condition.
