Recapping the main points from today's Covid update

Recapping the main points from today's Covid update

There are 41 new cases in the community brining the total to 148.

Thirty eight of the new cases are in Auckland and three in Wellington.

The three in Wellington are all close contacts of previous cases.

Eight people are now in hospital with Covid - none are in intensive care.

Eight-nine cases are epidemiologically linked to the Auckland outbreak - results are still coming for the rest but Ashley Bloomfield has indicated it's likely they're also linked to the Auckland cluster.

The largest cluster of cases, of 58 people, is in the Samoan community in Mangere - connected to a church service.

The second largest sub-cluster, of 23, is centred on Birkdale on Auckland's North Shore.

Nine hundred contact tracers are now working and there are more than 100 new locations of interest today.

There are no unexpected results from waste water testing.

The latest test from Warkworth has come back negative.

Just one new case in MIQ today.

Ashley Bloomfield says he spoke with his Australian counterpart, who says Delta is like "a whole new virus"

Yesterday was the countries busiest ever for vaccinations with 63-thousand-333
